RECENT NEWS FROM OCTOBER
The people of the United Methodist Church invite you to Sunday service at 10:30. The nursery is open from 10:00 to noon, with two Safe Sanctuary-trained adults on hand. Sunday School is at 9:00, and Alan Acker facilitates the study of Galatians. Pastor Jackson leads the study of “The Story” (of the Bible), and began a similar study on Mondays at 2:00 for those who prefer not attending on Sunday morning. On Sunday, October 4, the centering music sung by all was “Jesu, Jesu.” After a prayer of confession, everyone sang, “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” accompanied by Renee Root on the piano. Lory Albin shared the “Did You Know?” moment, outlining all the accomplishments of the Safety Committee and their upcoming activities. The Senior choir sang, “I Have Felt the Touch of God,” directed by Maureen Johnston. Karen Blackwell read the scripture, John 13:1-4 and 34-35. Pastor Jackson’s message, “Love One Another” encouraged us to love others as Jesus loves us and asked the question “Who is God calling you to love?” Communion was served individually by Pastor Liz by intinction at the Lord’s Table. Fellowship refreshments were provided by Nancy Tate and Anna Mengel. On Saturday, October 3, United Women of Faith in the Northern Wilds District held Annual Day under the leadership of President Kathy Whipple. The speaker was Jeanne Miller of Hughsville, a missionary volunteer with Compasssion International. Fawn McCallister, Deaconess and President of Susquehanna UWF, installed the officers for 2027. A Memorial Service honoring members who have died during the year was led by Karen Cook and Ressie Harding. A delicious lunch was served by women of the church. Friday, October 9, from 4:00 to 7:00, a Friendship Dinner will be held in the church parking lot. The community is invited to attend to enjoy free hot dogs, hamburgers, and salads, as well as live music by Chris Eckert. Bev McKnight, Carol Delaney, and Maureen Johnston celebrated their birthdays this week, and Brian and Marie Andrews, their anniversary.
